Hi folks,
I've been using my new Treasure Pro for a couple of months now but can't figure how to hunt in all metal mode. The manual tells me nothing. When i switch to all metal/relic mode,
the machine makes a lot of noise before i even swing. I'm suppose to hunt an old home site Sunday. I called Whites the other day and told them about my upcoming hunt. The fellow said to hunt in relic mode to get the most depth. I haven't had a chance to try relic mode until today. Then the rain started. Does anyone have any suggestions?. Why is it making all the noise.
Thank You,
Tom

Hi Tom. Does this happen outside and away from metal objects and does the same thing happen in pin point mode?  Have you tried adjusting down the threshold? it could also be EMI.  All metal mode is more sensitive to EMI.

Hi Reese,
I was hunting around Lake Calhoun today. I switched over to all metal and the machine was making a lot of noise. VCI numbers were going crazy with just a little motion. Threshold was at zero. I tried it in my back yard and got same reaction.Same thing in pin point mode. I'm hunting in River Falls, Wi. tomorrow in the country. If it is EMI, this should take care of it. What do you think Reese? Is all metal mode the deepest mode?. The White's fellow said use relic mode which i think is the same with my detector. What if i don't use any discrim in coin and jewelry mode. Would this get me more depth? What do you think Reese?. I just did some research on the internet and found if ground is very trashy, all metal will be very unstable. There was tons of trash at Calhoun. I bet this is why it doesn't work. I don't know why it is unstable in my yard though.
I guess i'll find out tomorrow if the weather holds out.

True all metal mode should give you more depth especially if you  listen to slight repeatable threshold changes, but I don't know if relic mode on the Treasure Pro is a true all metal mode or a zero discrimination mode.

So does the machine make noise with VDI's changing when the coil is in the air?  If so, then it's probably EMI.  If it doesn't make noise in the air but only when you are sweeping the coil on the ground, then I would say it's normal but you may have your sensitivity turned up too high.

There are nails and other iron objects all over in the parks, so if you don't discriminate them out you'll get lots of beeps. Because of all the trash in parks, I don't think all metal mode or zero discrimination will help you much, because you'd have to dig all the iron objects up to get past them to the deep stuff and to do so you'd have to dig way to many holes.  I think all metal and zero discrimination are best used at an old home site or cellar hole where you want to recover every metal object.

Hi Reese,
I did hunt the old homestead today over in Wisc. Unfortunately the home owner forgot to tell me his 3 acres held mountains of trash before he bought it. You are right about EMI and coil held in the air. I was unable to use all metal mode due to excessive trash. I was able to find a spot in front yard and AMM worked fine. So i learned something new about my machine. And thanks to you i was able to figure things out pretty well. I found one quarter today in AMM mode. 3 hours of hunting, can't complain. More trash in that yard than any park i've hunted in a while. One more thing... i buried that quarter 5 inches deep and went over it in coin mode. Treasure Pro barely picked it up. My Ace 250 picked it up much faster and held on. DD coil vs stock coil. Sens. was pegged near top for both machines. Why would this be i don't know. The 250 has never let me down. Thanks for your advice Reese.
Tom
