I know this message board isn't used much, but giving it a try since I'm probably the only one in the group who doesn't "Facebook".

My son and I recently purchased a couple of Garrett AT Pro detectors and anxious to get digging.

Would anyone from the south-metro area be willing to mentor us?

Thanks in advance !

It did work, members get a notice that someone posted on this board.
You two can get a start by hunting school and park playgrounds, sand not woodchip. The digging is easy and finds are shallow, never go after deep targets in a playground. This will allow you to get an idea of how your detector works before you move out to the grass areas. Study up on proper digging techniques for grass/lawn areas and always fill your holes.
As far as Facebook goes, you can join with a minimal account, no friends or maybe just family. This is all you need to join the GSTH page.

Hello,
Yes, I know it worked.  My post was a feeble attempt at humor.  I'm aware this message board isn't used much, but I don't "Facebook".  My philosophy has always been "my wife does enough for both of us", and as an IT guy,  I'm not comfortable with personal information so readily available.  However, I need to resign myself to the fact Facebook may no longer be optional as so much is done through it.  (sigh)

Thanks.

bapple! It should be noted that our club is having its Spring Hunt at a Mpls park on Saturday May 6th. Because you're new to the hobby you may want to just come and watch. You'll see a few dozen enthusiasts frantically trying to scarf up as many coins as possible from a Oak Hill Park between 9 & 11 am. Anyone can join either of 2 hunts that day for $5 each. We hope to meet you.  Hank
